Week 11 July 20

Vygotsky's theory makes me think that learning needs to be full of challenges, but also successes whether they be easy or difficult accomplishments.
As Teacher/Trainers we need to be aware of where their development is to allow for these accomplisments to take place. I think one of the best ways to better understand where our students are is by using frequent forms of formative assessment for our benefit as well as for the student.

  1. Having a variety of assessments is helpful to gain an accurate knowledge of their understanding. However, we can't have too many because of time and students don't try as hard. It also takes time to explain how to do the assessment if it isn't a traditional multiple choice exam.

  2. Using formative assessment isn't usually in the traditional testing format. That is why I like it.

  3. I like how you brought up formative assessment, you are such a genius, because it really does seem to go hand in hand with scaffolding/Vgotsky etc. This has been a fun class. -Tom
